ANNA

Anna is a dancer , yoga teacher and creative dance facilitator . She has trained as a contemporary dancer in Trinity Laban and has studied dance movement psychotherapy at the University of Roehampton.

I am a movement artist, who believes that every one has a story to tell. And what better way to express yourself then through creative movement? I believe we hold stories within our bodies, and it is important to recount these stories to not only ourselves, but to others through movement, by moving, we release stress and fear, and we express our true self that lies within.

Dance and yoga has always helped me connect to who I am, giving me not only shelter but also a dream to chase and a passion to pursue.

I began my studies in Law at La Sorbonne in Paris, while dancing on the side and following a Musical/Theatre degree at AICOM Paris. I then studied at Trinity Laban (ISP), and later at Roehampton University studying Dance Movement Psychotherapy (DMP). I also completed a 230 hour YTT with Julie Montagu. Coming from a family of 8 children, and being an identical twin, there was never much space for expressing my true self in my household. In truth, my home was not a very healthy environment. Movement quickly became my go-to means of expressing myself: dance and yoga became my own instruments with which I could deal with my trauma. Movement literally saved my life.

The real work started with DMP. I started to physically move from an organic place, not as a means to escape from myself but to actually connect with myself. I never strove to be seen nor accepted in any way, but just to be, just to tell my story through creative movement. I hope I can give people what yoga and dance gave to me: a place to be, a place to release fear and pain, a place to connect with a more beautiful world. If I am able to create a nurturing space in which people can heal, grow, and of course have fun, I could safely say that my dream and purpose would be fulfilled.

β€œI’ve been practicing yoga with Anna since her early days as an instructor and her classes have become my favourite. Her background in dance makes her one of the most graceful yoga teachers and watching her practice inspires you to better your own. You can see how well she understands the body as she corrects you in all the right places, perfecting your poses and deepening your stretch. She is highly knowledgeable and very gentle, and full of compassion and humor. You leave feeling refreshed and rejuvenated, looking forward to the next class”

β€œTo whom it may concern,
Anna completed a six month apprenticeship with myself from the 14 November 2017 till the 22nd of
May 2018. For this period, she diligently assisted my Tuesday 5-6pm Vinyasa Level 2 class at
Triyoga Chelsea.
Throughout, her commitment to learning and enthusiasm to grow her teaching skills was admirable.
She was both committed to observing sequencing and progressions and curious about different ways
of adjusting students.
Her lovely energy put practitioners at ease and her caring manner fostered trust in the room.
Her adjustments were considerate and conscientious. She supported students with their alignment
and facilitated their ability to access safe, stable and deep poses.
It was a pleasure working with Anna as a mentee. I have every confidence that she will be a
wonderful teacher and create a nurturing space for her students. I continue to teach her and follow
her progress. I wish her the best of luck in all her endeavours.”
